If so, one of the side effects of regular use of Weed is paranoia, so it could just be that he is experiencing the paranoia because of the weed. In which case, he simply needs to stop smoking weed.
If he doesn’t smoke weed regularly I would say there’s definatley some sort of mental illness going on there, whether it’s schizophrenia (which to be honest it does sound a bit like it) or something else, some sort of anxiety disorder I don’t know because I am not a psychiatrist but I would say all you can do really is try to get your friend to see a doctor and get himself referred to a Psychiatrist and tell the psychiatrist everything he is experiencing.
